Rap vs Country (non-serious entry)

A lot of people criticize rap and hip hop.
A lot do not care for rap and hip hop.
Not one bit.

But Country tends to talk about...
some guy preferring rodeo to his woman,
always losin' somethin or another like his woman, his dog, his house, hell...even his truck.
Life seems like it sucks and shit always happens to ya.
After awhile, if i didn't own that person's cd or have someone tell me, i wouldn't know who the hell was singin a certain song. Hell, i wouldn't even know what the song title was, or what year that song was from. One song even associates a state as a source of misery, saying that all his ex's live in Texas. It starts to sound the same after a long ass while.

Rap? you don't lose, but seem to gain.
Money. Cars. Women.
Sure, ya occasionally have to dodge some bullets from gangsta rappers,
but it's always some kind of party, drinkin' and havin' a good ol' time.
They will tell you who it is...repeatedly, what year it is, usually what the song title is,
and additional pertinent information.

For example,
California Love.
It tells you WHO: Dre puttin it down for Californ-i-a
It tells you WHAT: California Love
It tells you WHERE: West Coast
It tells you WHEN: Now it's '95 and they clock me and watch me
and it gives a listing of other cities within california, and say their version of hello.

Another Example of usefulness....
A country song will limit itself to southern cities, such as Memphis and Houston, and Amarillo... sometimes giving mention of Cheyenne, Wyoming. Nice and dandy... but rap goes the extra step...

Area Codes gives you a nice listing variety of area codes, and which cities are represented within those aera code divisions. How thoughtful.

Long ago, I used to wonder if there would ever be a country/rap & hip-hop crossover, brought forth by a potential marriage/collaboration between Busta Rhymes and Leanne Rimes.

Nelly ruined it.

I'm just the opposite. Growing up, country was about all I listened to...but now? I VERY seldom listen to country. Why? I have no idea...I just switched. I still like the ol' standards...Alan Jackson, Shania Twain and a few others but that's about it.
