slight update - will cosolidate later

It's been a wild last few days. when we startedgetting news on Monday and Tuesday, i went ahead and started fixing and cleaningmy desk...then put together my black bag full of clothes, enough to last 1-2 weeks.then started helping fixing around the house. wednesday, we had a really short day at work, enough to close things down. told patsy and terry not to even worryabout even coming in. took care of that, and went home, filled up the truck, thenprepped the house s'more. moved stuff that was ouside, inside...secured as muchstuff inside the house, etc. then they showed a model of storm surges if we gothit hard, and with just enough, even JSC would be under water, so instead of bareessentials, we went ahead and got things from the house as if we wouldn't have onewhen we came back.our neighbors wnet separate directions. one family also planned to go to Dallasand left 11pm weds. they got as far as Bush/IAH at 630am. we went to sleep at around 1-2am weds, then woke at 430am thurs... mom heard they'd have an update at650, so we waited, then left at 7am-ish. basically caught up to the neighbors causewe got off I-45 at places. Hailey gave updates cuz she was at home in the Woodlands.Cars were everywhere, stalling, breaking down, heatin up, and out of gas. we hadenough gas to get to dallas. mom rode with me, and grandma rode with dad. but,mom and i did wndows down, while dad had AC on...so though he had better gas mileage,he lost some due to AC, so we couldn't all make Dallas anymore. So, after 12+ hrs of driving, we fnally got to the Woodlands...then got to Conroearound 10:30pm. we regrouped, and waited for my aunt and our friend Herbert...andso we assessed where we could go. Brenham was the closest since Dallas, Austin, and San Antonio were too far. so Mom called her old classmate this was around 1030/11pm-ish...and we got back on the road and arrived at Brenham by 3:30am.there were some scary moments on the drive to brenham. there was a scary driverwho dared people to cut him, and if they tried, he literally tried to run them offthe road. There was no gas anywhere. :( and they took too long to open the other lanes foroutbound. They keep saying 'this is unprecedented', or "we had to plan allof this out"... but it sucks cuz eisenhower passed the act for the highwaysso we could use the interstates for evac. 50 yrs ago. so they had 50 yrs to plan.my lil gripe. a least we're all safe. that's what counts.

Hailey, you're awesome! thanks for all the updates while we were on the road.
owe you big.
