The Facts of Life

I was over at Ced's, and for some reason, the Facts of Life theme song came to mind.
Sure, it was a catchy tune when the show was on, and I had a crush on Jo (Nancy McKeon). Blair (Lisa Whelchel) was just... too prissy. Tootie (Kim Fields) was cool, and so was Natalie (Mindy Cohn).

The show ran from 1979 thrugh 1988 on NBC. It had the likes of the regular cast, but it also featured george Clooney, McKenzie Astin, ...and even Molly Ringwald was on the show in 1979-1980. On a tangent with George Clooney, as I looked him up on imdb.com, it said that prior to being on The Facts of Life from 1985-1987 as George Burnett, he had started in a TV series in 1984... The series title? E/R, where he played mark "Ace" Kolmar. I used to watch that show on, I think, WGN many years ago, and it was a decent show. Totally missed the part he was in that show. Several years later... he stars in another tv series... also named...ER.

Back to the Facts of Life...
It came to mind because each year, unless you win the lottery or just get struck with major tragedy, it's usually a mix of good events and bad events. They seem to offset each other. " You take the good, you take the bad, you take them both and there you have the facts of life..."

"You take the good,
you take the bad,
you take them both and there you have
The facts of life, the facts of life.
There’s a time you got to go and show
You’re growin’ now you know about the facts of life,
The facts of life.
When the world never seems to be livin up to your dreams
And suddenly you’re finding out
The facts of life are all about you, you."

And here I thought I was alone in having a crush on Jo.

I'm sure I'll be cursing you for the rest of the day for putting this song in my head.

My bad, Jay. :)

Jo was just awesome...
and heh... i've sometimes got a knack for doing that to people. At least it's not Toxic by Britney Spears.

Remember when Tootie was so small they had her wear roller skates on the show?
