New Year's Weekend - Sat

Saturday morning, started helping out in the kitchen.
Prepared some spinach salad and matching sauce,
(I'm prolly gonna share the recipe...HG, you up for the recipe?)
After that, started mixing up a fruit salad, helping with heating up the lasagna.
The rest of the preparations were also being taken cared of. I'd vacuumed again just before folks started showing up, and had also picked up around the rooms whatever could be cleaned up and dusted a little bit. When that was taken cared of, got myself fixed up,
and went back to the kitchen to follow up on where else I could help out. Since everything else was just a matter of setting, i started making some of the chocolate leaves. Although they turned out just fine later, i'm gonna try making them a little bit thicker next time.

The guests started to show up slowly, around 1pm-ish. We'd entertain a few, but Ma is usually prompt, so we started after a few guests arrived. Come dessert time, I got the chocolate cake out, dabbled some chocolate and mocha syrups on a plate, added a slice of chocolate cake, topped with vanilla ice cream, and then topped with a cherry with a chocolate leaf. Not too shabby presentation wise, and even better to the taste. Two of them had asked for recipes, while a few asked how to make the chocolate leaves. The stuff i read and watch on TV, i tell them. really easy to do. ;)

Later, more guests arrived. After a short few, the first guests would leave, and then a new set would arrive.
We did some karaoke and danced a lil bit. They danced more while I sang. One of my old longtime friends and I caught up. He hadn't changed. Arrogant, but unlike then, now I have to wonder if it's because of his personality, because he needs it for his line of work, or a little bit of both. It was still good to catch up with him and know that he was starting to get some direction in his life. We also caught up on other folks we grew up with. S'more karaoke. And then, we hunkered down and watched Dodgeball on DVD.
Christine Taylor's a cutie. Ah, I wonder if she has a sister... Heh.

Anyway, that was the main brunt of the day. Pretty nice and quiet with family and friends.
