Life Imitates Art

I have a pretty decent sized DVD collection. I can also say I like good movies now and then. Once in a while, a movie comes along and I can watch it over and over not so much for its special effects or storyline, but just by how I can relate to the movie, the situations, the characters in them... It's these movies that are so endearing.

One such movie that comes to mind is Officespace. Three engineers. One drives a camry, listens to rap, but cares about his job. Another is paranoid, but wants to beat the shit out of a printer. (what the hell DOES PC Load Letter mean, anyway? j/k) And finally...there's Peter. He likes the girl at the local restaurant but never asks her out. And TPS reports... Some of these things...when you put all three engineers together... I can't help but think, hah... that's me.

As for Beddazzled:
"Elliot Richards, a socially incompetent technical advisor working at a call-center, has had a crush on Alison Gardner for nearly four years. One evening, which already started particularly bad for Elliot, she ditches him. Elliot wishes for her to be in his life with all his heart - and is heard. An incredibly beautiful young lady addresses Elliot, and after introducing herself as the Devil, Lucifer, the Princess of Darkness, she offers him a deal: Seven wishes for him, his Soul for her. Quickly, Elliot is convinced and accepts. But every wish he gets fulfilled has massive disadvantages as well, and soon Elliot wants to get out of the contract. The only thing that matters to him now is being able to take his chances by himself."

It's a really cool movie, with some good life's lessons with it. I dunno, all i know is it's a movie I like. ANd the ending is pretty nice.

What's all this got to do with anything.
I was checking out the figure website at sideshow. i remembered that the 40-yr old Virgin featured figures from the company. Really great products... As I was showing something like this earlier, someone said 'and this is why you're still single'. Reminded me of my own collections... ha ha...

40-year-old Andy Stitzer (Steve Carrell) has done quite a few things in his life. He's got a cushy job stamping invoices at an electronics superstore, a nice apartment with a proud collection of action figures and comic books, good friends, a nice attitude. But there's just one little thing he hasn't quite gotten around to doing yet--something most people have done by his age. Done a lot. Andy's never, ever, ever had sex--not even by accident. So is that such a big deal? Well, for Andy's buds at the store, it sure is. Although they think he's a bit of an oddball, there's certainly a planet full of stranger (and homelier) guys who've at least had one go at having a go. They consider it their duty to help Andy out of his dire situation and go to great lengths to help him. But nothing proves effective enough to lure their friend out of lifelong chastity until he meets Trish (Catherine Keener), a 40-year-old mother of three. Andy's friends are psyched by the possibility that "it" may finally happen...until they hear that Andy and Trish have begun their relationship based on a mutual no-sex policy.

Though not so parallel, I can almost relate. That and I have yet to see the movie, but I'm guessing it'll be something i'll end up watching and prolly liking and adding to some sort of list of endearing movies.

Such is all.
Such is fate.
