12/10-12/11 - recap
Ok...so...12/10... friday....
12/10, i swear, karma said, you came in early on thursday, so you're gonna forget you have an alarm clock. and sure enough... but i woke up enough and reminded myself of the mission at hand at work, and took care of that til lunch. persistence pays off sometimes, but in other instances, ya just have to tap other resources to get things done. the irony? went through all the trouble to get a drawing drafted, reviewed, then checked... and when you were gonna send it for approval... voila. in the words of Strongbad when he talked about techno music...the system is down. the system is down. And it won't be til monday til it's back up. oh joy.
we also had our branch christmas lunch thingie today. we had a pretty good turnout, and the food was good. i'm a sucker for turkey and stuffing and cranberry sauce. after the meal, we played the deal. and the deal was the white elephant gift exchange thingie. i'd brought a fleece blanket from Target, and wrapped it up like a big piece of candy. well, it was the first item to get exchanged 4 times, so it was kept early on in the exchange.
my first swipe was getting someone else's m&m dispenser. And that was taken away from me... so i opted to open a gift bag...which had my branch chief's desert certified and proven coffee mug. Pretty nifty I guess... I mean, it COULD hold a large volume of whatever you chose to put in there... except for the fact that I don't really drink coffee, unless it's a cold frapuccino.. anyways, at the end, i got that, and dear Laura let me have one of the items she got, which was a Ladies Man book.
After work, I picked up one of the co-op pics and will hopefully put it together on Monday so they can get them signed, etc. Went home, and baked two pinapple upside-down cakes...one for us, and the other for one of Mom's coworkers who was having a party today. Watched The Bourne Supremacy... good movie.

Went and did some Xmas shopping. I only have a few more to go. I got a lil something for a few of the coworkers, something for Cath, and got a few things for me. That leaves Kerry and KC. I'll think of something.
As it is, on Monday, I'm gonna ask the gang if they'll pitch in so we can all get our custodian something.
If all else, a gift certificate somewhere.
I still don't have pics, but for myself (since I don't really want to say what I got for a few others), I ended up getting two corduroy jeans, at 8 dollars a pop. not too shabby. But the big kicker? A Tony Stewart jacket. It has NASCAR on it, with all the sponsors and stuff. I have to get a pic of it. Preliminary comments from the peanut gallery?
Me: "and now, i also have a nascar jacket. help me, nate the mate. i am more redneck than ever"
Nate the Mate: "now you just need to get a set of horns to mount on the front of your SUV"
That was about it for the day's events. Chatted with Ma about some stuff, people, and what not.
Hmm. Well, it's basically 3am now, so I'm gonna call it a night.

Cool beans. Whatcha think about it? Good movie?
I'm organizing my DVDs again tonight... hrm. I think I have too many... I'm close to 500 now. :(
